Doggy Mail

25 Sep

It’s been a while, right?! Apparently I took a little hiatus from blogging, so let me catch you up to speed. This past weekend was spent back home in Ocala. I did some studying, some napping, and lots of eating. How can you say no to delicious meals like this?

My favorite, biscuits and sausage gravy. I also ate my fair share of candy corn. I may have come close to eating a whole bag myself. Whoops.

On Monday morning, Chipper and I headed back to Gainesville. There was a very special package waiting for us, and no it wasn’t for me. It was for Chipper! I signed Chipper up for a month of BarkBox. I kept seeing ads on facebook for the monthly dog treat subscription, and finally decided to give it a try.

Included in Chipper’s box was pizza flavored treats, a couple of raw hide chews, a treat ball, and liquid bandage spray. He is a big fan of the pizza treats and has already enjoyed one of the raw hides. The treat ball wasn’t a big hit with him, but I’ll try it again and see if it grows on him at all. All-in-all,  we (especially Chipper) were pleased with BarkBox. While we probably won’t get a monthly subscription, it will be something fun to get once in a while.

Back to School

22 Aug

Today is my last first day of school. I’ve said that before with the end of my undergraduate run, but this time I mean it! The past couple of days have been filled with unpacking and getting back into a routine. I somehow managed to accumulate a lot of stuff over the summer. My car seemed much more full on the way back to Gainesville than it did on the way home this summer. Maybe it was just a little deceiving because I have a car instead of a an SUV now, but there was a lot of unpacking to do! While I was getting settled I found this little treat that my mom put in my bag.

I am a sucker for sour candies! Thanks mom!

Yesterday was spent hanging out and getting organized for classes. I may have taken a lot of puppy-play breaks.

Dog pile! I won, obviously. 😉

Dinner last night was a make your own fajita spread. They were delicious, but left the apartment smelling like Chili’s all night long.

And now for today, it’s back to the real world. I have two classes this afternoon with a little break in between, so I’m hoping to make it to the gym during my break. Busy, busy, busy!

Summer Vacation is Here!

12 Aug

Today starts my official week and a half of summer vacation! That means no online classes and no internship for this girl. Just a glorious week and a half of relaxing and recouping so I can tackle my last semester of graduate school! It’s hard to believe in only four short months I will graduate with my Master’s degree. Time sure does fly!

Today was a rather run-of-the-mill day. I awoke and it was actually light outside! All of those early mornings with my internship were starting to take a toll on me. Chipper and I went for a walk before it got too hot, and then I hung out a bit before heading to the gym. I’m still able to use the gym facilities at my internship so I didn’t have to worry about getting a week-long membership anywhere.

After my workout I came home and made a delicious protein smoothie. It’s the perfect lunch for a hot summer day, if you ask me!

The rest of the day will be filled with checking things off of my to-do list, playing with the pup, and remembering to relax. Oh yeah, and watching the reunion of the Real Housewives of Orange County. Call it my guilty pleasure, but I just can’t help tuning in every week.

And now for your daily dose of cuteness. I walked in to this little guy taking a snooze on my bed last night. He made sure to arrange the pillows so they were just to his liking.

Fitness Friday

3 Aug

So I may be a day late, but Fitness Saturday doesn’t roll of the tongue as easily as Fitness Friday. Agree? Agree!  Let’s cut to the chase. This weekend was just a so-so week for working out. I had some longer days at my internship and I seemed to be standing quite a bit which bothered my heel, so Monday and Wednesday were just not happening at the gym for me. Here’s what I did happen to accomplish this week.

  • Tuesday: Back + 15 minutes on Stairmill
  • Thursday: 15 min run + Chest + Arms + 5 min cool down jog
  • Friday: Legs + 15 min of jumping rope

I’m also hoping to make it to hot yoga tomorrow to finish off the week on a positive note. My goal for next week is to be a little more consistent with my workouts. This past week was just lacking a little motivation. Nothing a little planning can’t change.

This weekend’s plans include relaxing, studying, and weather permitting hanging by the pool. Chipper started the weekend off a little lazily this morning.

But rest assured, he mustered up enough energy to run around at the dog park and continue to play all day long. He is an endless ball of energy. He sure does keep me active.

Fitness Friday

26 Jul

It’s the weekend! My week flew by and I can reassure you that I am not complaining! After a very exciting weekend, it was hard to get my mind back into work mode this week. Thankfully, my internship was pretty slow and no major projects were going on. I managed to get a workout in every day this week, which felt great.

  • Monday: 12 min run + Back
  • Tuesday: 18 min run + 7 min Stairmill
  • Wednesday: warm-up jog + Chest + Arms + Abs
  • Thursday: 30 min of intervals of jump rope, squats, and jumping jacks
  • Friday: Hot Yoga

As soon as I finished my yoga class today I headed home to shower and pack. Chipper and I had a road trip to Orlando planned so we could spend Mike’s birthday weekend with him.

I am so thankful that this little guy likes car rides. It makes everything that much easier. I hope you all enjoy your weekend and get a chance to relax!

2-4-1 Birthday Weekend

21 Jul

This weekend was a blast and I wish it didn’t have to end! We celebrated my sister Kristin’s 25th birthday and my 23rd brithday this weekend. Birthdays in this family come in pairs. I was born the day after Kristin’s 2nd birthday. She knows I am her favorite present still to this date. Here is one part of the present I gave her this year. I found the quote on this frame online and knew Kristin would appreciate it.

Mike arrived in Ocala late Friday afternoon. We ate a delicious dinner of BBQ ribs and then waited around for Kristin to arrive so we could both blow out some candles and enjoy some cake.

This was the most delicious vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. The bakery made a mistake and accidentally made my cake a two-layer cake. Trust me it was not a mistake I was upset about.

How cute is this package?! My mom is so creative when it comes to bows and wrapping presents. I got a polar FT4 heart rate monitor that I’m excited to put to good use. I also got plenty of new workout clothes and some yoga gear. I’m easy to please when it comes to the gifting department.

Saturday was spent hanging out. Mike and I took Chip for a walk and then spent a good amount of time at the dog park. Chipper loves when he has both his mom and dad together at the same time. Saturday night was filled with mosquitos, mudding, driving through the forest, and trying a sip of moonshine. That was my attempt of being a country girl.

This weekend sure was one for the books. I have more exciting news to share but it deserves a post all to itself. So stay tuned!

19 Jul

Woah! It’s been a whole week since I’ve posted. The start of the week got off to an extremely busy start and then I guess the week just got away from me. I had both yesterday and today off from my internship so I’ve been able to catch up on some studying and school work. This week I tried to eat as healthy as possible in anticipation for the weekend. Today is my birthday so I knew that I would be indulging in some sweets more than a few times over the weekend. Dinner last night was a simple and delicious salad.

It was topped with chicken, hard boiled egg, bacon, and blue cheese. Yummy! And since the house will be full of dogs this weekend I blended up some homemade dog smoothies for the pooches.

These won’t last long. I’m sure the three dogs in the family will enjoy them.

I got some great workouts in this week. I did overdo it a little with running. I ran three days in a row and my heel was not happy with me yesterday. I decided to take today off completely to rest, relax, and enjoy my day. Here’s what the rest of the week looked like:

  • Monday: 12 min. run + back
  • Tuesday: 12 min. run + chest + arms + 6 min. stairmill
  • Wednesday: 13 min. interval run + 12 min. run
  • Thursday: yoga + legs

I’ll be back over the weekend to do a birthday recap! With my sister’s birthday yesterday and mine today there sure is some fun to be had!
