“Lazy” Sunday

8 Sep

There is something I just love about Sundays. I always like to say that I’m going to have a “lazy Sunday”, but I usually end up being pretty productive.

Today started out with a trip to the gym where I did a little cardio mash-up. I ran some intervals on the treadmill, spent some time on the stairmill, and then finished up with an incline walk on the treadmill. Once I got home, Chipper and I spent some time at the dog park. He was loving every minute of it and has been sleeping ever since we got inside! Next up for me was some food.

I set up a little snack plate that hit the spot. The rest of the afternoon has been filled with laundry, meal prep, reading for school, and catching up on Scandal. Scandal is my newest show to watch on Netflix. I’m trying to finish the second season before the new season airs in a couple of weeks.

On the menu for dinner tonight is Brunswick Stew. It may still be 95 degrees outside, but I’m ready to start having soups and stews for dinner. Florida needs to hurry up and get the memo to cool down!

30 Aug

Happy long weekend! I hope everyone has some fun plans for this holiday weekend. Mike and I will be heading to Ocala in a little bit for the weekend. I’m super excited because I’ve gotten all my school work done ,so I’m not bringing my books or laptop home. Living on the edge! I plan on just relaxing. And I’m sure I’ll end up watching more college football than I’m really willing to.

I had a really great week at the gym. I’ve finally gotten back into the groove of my gym routine.

  • Sunday: yoga
  • Monday: 15 min Stairmill + back + abs
  • Tuesday: 15 min run + push-ups/pull-ups + abs + 10 min Stairmill
  • Wednesday: 10 min row + arms + 10 min incline walk
  • Thursday: 20 min running + legs
  • Friday: yoga

After yoga this morning I headed to Trader Joe’s in search of pretzel buns. I keep seeing them on commercials and have been wanting to try them, but I will not bring myself to buy a fast food burger. Luckily TJ’s did not disappoint.

These pretzel buns look so good and the cashier at TJ’s assured me they are to die for. Needless to say, we will be having burgers sometime this weekend! I’ll let you all know how they are.

Who else out there loves Fridays? I know I sure do! This whole week was very enjoyable for me. I had no responsibilities, nowhere to be, I just flew by the seat of my pants. After my relaxing week off, I am prepared to head back to school next week. Since I had so much time on my hands this week I had a great week of workouts.

  • Monday: 15 min run + Back + 5 min on Stairmill
  • Tuesday: 15 min on Stairmill & 18 min run
  • Wednesday: Hot yoga
  • Thursday: 10 min on Stairmill + Chest + Arms + 15 min run
  • Friday: 12 min on Stairmill + Legs + 15 min incline walk

I love when I am able to get 5 consecutive days in the gym. I can guarantee I’ll talk at least one much-needed rest day this weekend.

After working out this morning, I headed to the farmer’s market with my mom. I wanted to stock up on some spaghetti and butternut squash to take back to Gainesville with me. I’m telling ya… I’ve been spoiled having my mom cook for me this summer. Back to the real world now!

This afternoon was gloomy here so I spent my time reading and watching terrible, but addictive Lifetime movies. For dinner this evening, my parents and I went to a local Italian restaurant and partook of our Pizza Friday. So delish!

As for the rest of the weekend, I’m hoping for some sunshine! Happy weekend!

Online Shopping

6 Aug

Why is online shopping so easy? Just this afternoon my mom told me about a Kate Spade sale going on, so I headed online to see what they had, and of course there was a bag calling my name. There was no resisting this one.

Image

I had some birthday money to spend and it was a really good deal so I don’t feel too bad about this purchase. Online shopping has made it way too convenient to spend money. Usually I am able to restrain myself, but you have to splurge every now and then, right?

In more relevant news, this week in the gym has been off to a much better start than last week. Today I didn’t have any lifting planned so I hopped on the treadmill for a run and then I made sure to stretch out for a while at the end.

Image

Talk about effectively using my time at the gym. The rest of my week is going to be busy busy busy. I have an early morning at my internship tomorrow and then I have a quiz and a final for my online class the following days. Some major studying needs to occur in the next couple of days so I can go into my final feeling completely confident in the subject matter.

All I can say is, I’m ready for a break next week!

Woah! It’s been a whole week since I’ve posted. The start of the week got off to an extremely busy start and then I guess the week just got away from me. I had both yesterday and today off from my internship so I’ve been able to catch up on some studying and school work. This week I tried to eat as healthy as possible in anticipation for the weekend. Today is my birthday so I knew that I would be indulging in some sweets more than a few times over the weekend. Dinner last night was a simple and delicious salad.

Image

It was topped with chicken, hard boiled egg, bacon, and blue cheese. Yummy! And since the house will be full of dogs this weekend I blended up some homemade dog smoothies for the pooches.

These won’t last long. I’m sure the three dogs in the family will enjoy them.

I got some great workouts in this week. I did overdo it a little with running. I ran three days in a row and my heel was not happy with me yesterday. I decided to take today off completely to rest, relax, and enjoy my day. Here’s what the rest of the week looked like:

  • Monday: 12 min. run + back
  • Tuesday: 12 min. run + chest + arms + 6 min. stairmill
  • Wednesday: 13 min. interval run + 12 min. run
  • Thursday: yoga + legs

I’ll be back over the weekend to do a birthday recap! With my sister’s birthday yesterday and mine today there sure is some fun to be had!

5 Jul

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I managed to lay out by the pool for a little bit, but it ended up storming so I spent most of the day inside relaxing. We had quite the feast for dinner and I will share that with you all later. Before I post the really good stuff, I’ll tease you all with the pretty good stuff… my workouts from the week.

  • Monday: 10min run on the treadmill + back + abs + 15min of sprints
  • Wednesday: 10min run on the treadmill + chest + arms + 12min of sprints
  • Thursday: 15 mile bike ride
  • Friday: warm-up jog + legs + abs + 10min stairmill

I’m also hoping to catch a yoga class sometime this weekend. It’s been almost a month since my last yoga class and I’m ready to jump back in.

And now I will leave you all with a picture of this little boy trying to act sweet and innocent.

I’ll be back soon to share the 4th of July feast!

Sweet Weekend

9 Jun

This weekend went by way too fast, and I had so much fun. Mike and I were able to spend the whole weekend together. He has been doing an internship this summer, so our time together has been limited. He got into town Friday evening just in time for pizza. You know the routine, pepperoni pizza and some garlic knots. So good! That night, Mike treated us to some fro-yo. Although we were both stuffed from dinner we couldn’t resist the urge.

Image

Saturday included a run, grocery shopping, Fast and Furious 6, and homemade nachos. Chipper was spoiled this weekend with countless trips to the dog park. He has such a ruff life. Funny, I know.

The many faces of Chipper. Before and after outside playtime. The cold kitchen tile is his spot when we get home. Instant cool down.

This morning I went to yoga and got a good stretch in. The rest of the day has been spent getting ready for the new week. That includes laundry, meal prep, and homework. The exciting things in life.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
